Blick Bassy

Blick Bassy is a fan of sounds that blend indie-pop and afro-soul, deeply rooted in the African continent, and a highly talented multidisciplinary singer-songwriter and producer from Cameroon.

Following the success of Akö (2015) and 1958 (2019), singer-songwriter Blick Bassy is back with a fifth album, once again sung in the Baasa language of Cameroon. Madíbá brings together twelve songs in the form of fables, devoted to the theme of water, in which a high, angelic voice dominates, carried by delicate guitar melodies, synthesiser and sober brass arrangements. The tracks are diaphanous, yet modernist songs that bear witness to a contemporary, poetic Africanness at the crossroads of soul, folk and electro.

 The second single, 'Nop', celebrates the arrival of rain in a period of smiling, stubborn and vengeful drought. Bright, shimmering guitars on a Karibik celebrate the joy of childhood as the rainy season arrives. He fondly remembers dancing in the open air with his brothers, as large raindrops collided with his skin and his mother's muffled voice warned them not to get sick.
