La Perla was formed in 2014. The three Bogotanas traveled through rural regions of Colombia and the Caribbean to study the musical languages of bullerengue, cumbia, merengue, gaita, and Creole champeta, learning them at their roots and weaving them into their own songs. Their lyrics highlight social concerns, denouncing political corruption, racial injustice, and gender discrimination. Their debut EP Paren La Bulla (2017) and the inclusion of the track Bruja in Netflix’s Siempre Bruja brought them international attention and touring opportunities across the Americas and Europe, where they were met with great success.
This Colombian all-female percussion and vocal trio moves seamlessly between Caribbean traditions and contemporary urban sounds: bullerengue, cumbia, merengue, gaita, and Creole champeta. Expect powerful voices, raw energy, and a rock attitude. They released the single Guarachar earlier this year, the first extract from an EP scheduled for 2026.
