Rayess Bek

Electro-Arabic

Wael Koudaih, better known as Rayess Bek, is a French-Lebanese composer and sound artist whose practice sits at the intersection of electronic music, archival research, and political storytelling. Emerging as one of the pioneering voices of Arab hip-hop, he has continually pushed beyond genre, using sound to excavate the cultural memory of the Arab world.

His projects, including Love and Revenge, Agmal Layali, and Goodbye Schlondorff, rework forgotten recordings, fragmented histories, and contemporary electronic production into immersive listening experiences. Developed in collaboration with institutions such as the Philharmonie de Paris and the Centre Pompidou, his work blurs the boundaries between concert, installation, and documentary.

Part composer, part sonic archaeologist, Rayess Bek creates works where archives become instruments, memory becomes material, and music becomes a way of questioning how history is told.
