A creation by Mazalda with Hend Elrawy.
Born from the encounter between Egyptian singer Hend Elrawy and the musicians of the band Mazalda, Zerzura draws inspiration from Egyptian folklore: the mystical Zâr ceremonies, Delta songs, Ghawazi dances, Siwa Amazigh music, as well as traditional wedding songs. The project delivers a unique repertoire in which songs are untamed, incandescent, and free.
Travel, love, and spirituality intertwine to trace an asphalt road crossing the riverbed of life…
The quintet blends hybrid instrumentation, from banjo and drums to synthesizers, all anchored by Hend’s warm and spellbinding voice. The result is a set of original Arabic songs, a contemporary sound that challenges clichés, carried by an irresistible energy and sensitivity.
In co-production with Mazalda, Airfono and Musiques Traditionnelles du Futur.
